Teaser and the Firecat

The album title will be:

Mrs. Equitone

Get used to it, it won't change again (unless something emerges from the depths which is neither available on iTunes nor indexed by Google).

Also, here are some song titles that I came up with yesterday (well a couple were around before that) for the upcoming project(s) that I'm starting up work on. These sessions should bear significantly more fruit than those in the past, which is why I've given my studio a brand new name:

Scrum Villa

Within this palatial estate, I shall implement agile songmaking practices to ensure that the maximum amount of songs (hereafter "features") make it through to you, the consumer (hereafter "user").

Here's the titles, let me know if you don't like any of them, more to come:

New Name

It's been soooo long, sorry about that. Finally taking a breather or two.

Got a new name for the album. It will be posted here as soon as it's final.

Figured I'd start working on the next new album. It will consist of a lot more loose stuff, so I'll post some of it starting this weekend. This will also help to make up for the loss of Grausday.

Questions? Comments?

Owl Hoops

I thought I posted here but I lied to myself.

So the decision sticks. Now I enter mix 'n' fix for the new 20-song album (it used to be secret but now it's just still undecided).

I'm very happy with that decision and hope that people will be able to hear it sooner rather than later.

This also changes the schedule for Yes Boss. Chances are that this will get polished, remixed, and self-released--probably by the end of this year. Hoo-ray!

This weekend also saw the beginning of work on the next Gates of Heaven album. It is called "Sea Hell," it will have art by Greg Petre, and it's sounding really good--like a real album, not just the largely-improv craziness of the first one. But hence, it will take a bit of time. Hopefully this fall it'll be ready for you.

Also: I'M PLAYING TONIGHT. At Cake Shop in NYC. It's going to be great--I played Piano's on Saturday but forgot to warn everybody. No matter--it turned out to be good practice, so this show should be spot on.

Also it is the first show by Ryan and Thayer's new band Twin Thousands, who are sounding really good. They play first, so come early. Doors are at 8.

Basically you know tonight will be chainless.

I hope you have enjoyed my owl hoops.

Where the Changes

Well UCIS you might get your wish sooner than later. The answer to my question of last night (and now onto another) seems to have been no.

I think I'm going to cap it at 20 songs instead of pushing forward to 25. We'll see if this decision sticks--IT IS NOT FINAL.

I'm going to mull over the various reasons, but I will tempt you with the 5 limbotic song titles, some of which may end up somewhere else, just so you know:

LIME PICKLE (CONCEIVED 12-05)
THE BASIL YOU'RE GROWING (CONCEIVED 1995)
LEAVE ME OUT OF THIS
THE SINKHOLE SWIMS (A GOOD SONG)
YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT, ANYWAY YOU CAN GET IT (THIS WILL DEFINITELY REAPPEAR)

COMMENNNTSS??????!!

Mlogging

Look, I hate words as much as you.

I was going to write entries whilst I recorded a jammy jim. I didn't last night, but tonight I worked on the lyrics.

Sidenote: One of my new favorite things is doing searches on phrases and song titles and such to suss out the competition. Fun stuff. Sometimes I like the fact that there are lots of results, sometimes none.

So the song I've worked on the last two nights, may, due to auspicious circumstances, end up being the second "single." Obviously like I said, they're all singles.

It had a different code name than this, but the final title is the very, very misleading (in a sense) "A Kindly Gentleman." That officially leaves only one codename left, though that one may only change slightly.

So yeah. No posting of this stuff yet but there's some magic insight. When you finally hear it you can think back and say "Those were the days, man, those were the days."

And it is done. Nuking the MP3 (for constant analysis) currently. Onto another?

Fail Your

Totally failing on the posting more front.

I am officially at 19. That means only 6 left to go--and I looked at the sheet last night and realized that they are all big hitz.

I mean, everything is hitz, but even amongst those hitz, there must be some hitz-filler.

Sooooo, tonight/this weekend, I start slamming through them. I'll try to give y'all some play by play. It might be fun.

Exciting?

I keep telling Michelle about the zone, but she doesn't necessarily get it. It's tough to understand.

It feels so great to be able to bust out songs so fast. And these songs are sounding so good. But it is kind of exhausting.

More or less finished (everything is tweakable) 18. Should get through 19 and (fingers crossed) 20 right about now.

To Sun

I spoke too soon in saying the album will be called Audiella. That is in the running. Why don't you help pick a title?

Other choices (more to come, vote them up in the comments):

Live It Up, or Never Live It Down
Exploded 1982
Love and Restlessness
The Unthinkable

Morr

Hey remember I said I was going to post more? Well here I go.

Slammed through two more songs over the weekend, including the one I talked about before (the Arli$$ one). The second one was supposed to be acoustic but it ended up a little more blissed out. Plus I wrote a new verse.

Anywho, I'm getting pretty excited because this record may be done a lot sooner than I anticipated.

I ditched Grausday last week. So here's "If You Only Knew," which I feel like I posted at some point before, but maybe not. I like this song.

Kleenex Girl Wonder - "If You Only Knew"

Oh yeah, I'm playing some shows coming up. I'll add a section to the sidebar, but in the meantime, regardez-la:

June 16 Pianos w Exit Clov, Eames Era
June 19 Cake Shop w Twin Thousands
July 6 Magnetic Field w Twin Thousands

Live it up! Or NEVER LIVE IT DOWN

Update

The song I'm working on can be illuminated by the following bullet points:

* Really one of the bitterest, most personal songs I've written as a result of something sad over the past couple years, but also ultimately just a stupid joke
* Sounds kind of like it's almost trying to be soulful, without being annoying
* Good candidate for second or third single, very good takes of everything very off the cuff but solid
* Is essentially about a mythical man who is the narrator of the song comparing himself to "Arli$$" -- not, as he is careful to point out, the character, but the show itself. It can also be seen as comparing a relationship to that show. In any case, it says that that show is really bad, which I believe is true.

I am at 15 songs MORE OR LESS finished. There are still decisions to be made. Tonight, whilst touching up things here or there, I've been playing with the song list. 10 to go.

The album will be called Audiella.

I will start posting more.
