On Killing It In The Streets and Elsewhere

I'm in Downers Grove, the place of my birth and education. It is pretty standard here. I brought my sampler and am going to go hog-wild sampling some old records. Maybe I need to come up with some other songs too... I have a bunch of guitars just sitting around and maybe one of them works.

What else? Copywrite tomorrow. Chicago fans and funs I might be playing an impromptu concert and my company's headquarters downtown on Monday, if that's actually a possibility. We'll see.

Song titles in the comments.

Like a Child in a Bathtub, You Might Wanna Duck

So, unlike the picture I saw in my mind (as opposed to with my eyes), we actually got a fair amount of stuff done on Saturday night.

Gates of Heaven videographist Yahshua Mosey (aka Yeah Sure) even made the scene in order to capture some raw data generation. We are, after all, the raw data generation (I read it in a learning manual).

The new album is called "Empty Land." Some songs that we started on this weekend:

Night Chaunt
Heal and Clone
War Song
The Modern Dragon
Validis
Duc

My sampler (the backbone of the Gates of Heaven experience) got totally borked about 3 hours before go-time AKA showtime. I lost some bent sequences but nothing too heart-breaking. Say lavvey as they say, phonetically.

I have a solid recording strategy worked out for how to capture all of these GOH shows. I may share the MP3 of last night with you if I think it's up to snuff. Let me know in the comments if you want to hear it.

Speaking of comments, thanks for the suggestions E. That's a lot of stuff to wade through. Also the second GOH album is done and awaiting release. It's actually at the dupers right now... soon soon soon.

Now accepting song titles. Upcoming GOH shows in NY:

November 30 - Pianos, upstairs @ 7 - unofficial Sea Hell release/Empty Land announcement
December 13 - Pianos, downstairs @ whenever - unofficial Ussed Age announcement

Orbitz Soda feat. Gellan Gum

It's been a while since I broadcast something of substance. How about now?

Well, I suppose it depends on how you define substance. This particular day will mark the beginning of the recording of the third Gates of Heaven album. We're pretty sure that it will be going by the title of "Empty Land."

I will try to post updates.

Also the 3-album box set for this year is still pushed, but the good news is that the first album (Codename: Blue, probably to receive a new name, um, obviously) is more or less done as i took some auld tracks from long ago and mixed them in with the new jams. Except I'm only going to acousto-demo them, then work them out with the band. Then we will record that, hopefully by end of Q1 08.

Well, that's my nuggets. Feel free to leave suggestions for Gates of Heaven in the comments. I know I asked for that before but then I didn't even record. This time it's a sure thing.

Hulu Yookin' At?

Here's an episode of Arrested Development. Just curious how the embedding works.

I like this show a lot, if you weren't aware of that.

Addendus

RGB will have to slip into 2008. But it will be sprawling? Also Yes Boss will come out soon in some form, then maybe in another form.

Gosh I love circuit bent tunes.

Also I started a new band today and they're called Facebook Widgets. This is a complex joke that I could never hope to laugh at.
